I’m Not Afraid

The Fragmented Souls

"I’m Not Afraid" is an original, ensemble-created dramatic work in English exploring the theme of fear: It confronts the question of fear: where it comes from and what role(s) it plays for the individual and for society. In its variety of theatrical styles and approaches, the work reflects the truly collaborative method of artistic creation that defines "The Fragmented Souls" as an ensemble. It is the third in a series produced by the Department of English Didactics at the Freie Universität Berlin.

about...

The Fragmented Souls

are an English-Language theatre ensemble based in the Department of English Didactics at the Freie Universität Berlin. Under the direction of John Crutchfield, the ensemble creates from scratch a new theatrical work in English every year. In 2014, the group created Unreal City, which examined the experience of life in the metropolis, with themes ranging from euphoria to loneliness, from boredom to absurdity, and from glimpses of strange beauty to moments of fear, madness and alienation. In 2015, no[w]here home investigated ideas of shelter, home and intimacy, as well as their opposites: exposure, homelessness and exile.
